Hike Balsam Mountain | Monday, October 10, 9 AM **2016**

The hike to the Balsam Mountain summit offers a bit of most of the charms of hiking in the Catskills. From streamside and steeps to ancient hemlocks and one of the finest vistas to be found, this hike of just over 5 miles is among the most fulfilling in the Catskills.

Event Duration:  5 miles, 5 hours

Level of Difficulty:  Moderate – Difficult  (some steep terrain)

Bring: lunch, plenty to drink, good hiking shoes, dress with the expectation that weather might change during the hike.

Group size is limited to 12 so register early.

Fee:  No

Dogs allowed:  Yes, leashed only.

Additional Information: Rain cancels. Registrants should check email or call if in doubt before 8 AM.

Driving Directions: From SR 28 in Highmount, turn south onto Galli-Curci Rd. (as if going to Belleayre Ski Area). Continue for 5 miles to Rider Hollow Rd. and turn east. Go about 2 miles to trailhead at end of road.
