Scheduled and Proposed Events for Lark in the Park 2016

As you may have read in our email requesting event leaders and events for the 2016 Lark in the Park, this year  we have developed a framework of events that provide for one or more options in the various regions of the Catskills as the week progresses.   For example, we have dubbed Sunday, October 2nd Stewardship Sunday, where Reservoir litter pickups and Trail Maintenance are the main scheduled activities. Monday, October 3rd concentrates in the Black Dome Valley with two scheduled hikes -The Blacks: Blackhead, Black Dome and Thomas Cole and Windham High Peak/Burnt Knob and one other suggested hike in the area, Acra Point Loop.  We’re also encouraging event participants to continue the camaraderie by having some after event activities such as a planned kickoff BBQ and bonfire at the Catskill Interpretive Center on Saturday late afternoon/evening, the Catskill Mountain Club Annual Dinner on Sunday, and First Friday gathering in Margaretville on Friday. Details of these events and others are in the works and will be available shortly.

Staff and volunteers from the sponsoring organizations are working hard to plan the Catskills Lark in the Park in 2016: we are reaching out to local and regional media; we will distribute thousands of flyers and brochures; and the web site is all set, waiting to fill up with great activities for this year.

Thanks to volunteer leaders like you, Lark in the Park is the largest coordinated outdoor events in the Catskills. We look forward to your help in getting everyone outdoors to enjoy the Catskills.
