We will hike the recently constructed trail to the Red Hill Fire Tower on Denning Road in Claryville. The trail is a wonderful example of one that has been well thought out and well built with multiple switch backs as it gains elevation. We will have lunch on the picnic tables at the top and will climb the tower and enter the cabin, which is slated to be open and staffed by a local volunteer guide. Pace will be moderate to relaxed with plenty of stops for photos, breath catching and forest gawking.

Driving Directions: From State Route 28 in Big Indian, take Ulster Co. Hwy 47 south 20.6 miles to its terminus at Sullivan Co. Hwy 19. Turn left and go about one mile and the Claryville Fire Department (meeting place) is on the right.

From State Route 55 just west of Grahamsville, take Sullivan Co. Hwy 19 (the Claryville Road) 5.5 miles to the Claryville Fire Department (meeting place) is on the right.
