Hike Giant Ledge from Woodland Valley
September 30 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
Hike from the parking area at the entrance to the Woodland Valley State Campground to Giant Ledge, where there is a popular, fantastic view. Elevation gain over the 3.7 mile hike (one way) to the ledge is approximately 1,400 ft in the valley to 3,214 at the ledge. Please note that there are some rock scrambles along this trail.
Event Duration: 7.4 miles, 4 hours
Level of Difficulty: Moderate-Difficult
Leader(s): Chris Olney
Bring: Food/ snacks, water/ drink, sunscreen, layered non-cotton clothing, good hiking shoes.
Registration required by 9/28. Use registration form below to register.
PLEASE contact the leader and cancel if you are not able to come as others may want to take your place.
Group size is limited to 10 so register early.
Dogs allowed: Yes, leashed only
Additional Information: Dogs can be off-leash for 2/3 of the hike, when we are on the lesser-used trail, if the other participants are comfortable with the dogs being free. Giant Ledge, and the last section of trail leading to it, is crowded on weekends though, so a leash is required when we are near the ledge and lots of other people, and any time we encounter other hikers who may not be comfortable with free dogs.
