We will take a hike in Woodland Valley, following the very path taken by John Burroughs in 1885, on his way to the Burnt Shanty. Along the way you will hear history about Burroughs, and the Tanning Industry. Some outdoor skills will be discussed as well. Some rough and rocky spots and a stream crossing will be encountered.

Driving Directions: Woodland Valley Road is located off State Route 28, .5 miles west of Phoenicia and marked with brown-and-white wayfinding signs. After turning on Woodland Valley Road and crossing the bridge, turn right, then stay to the left and follow Woodland Valley Road for 4.75 miles to the Woodland Valley Campground Day Use Lot (before the campground entrance) on the right.
