Mountain Bike Lake Minnewaska Carriage Roads
October 2, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Enjoy a day in Ulster County’s Shawangunk Mountains by cycling the restored carriageways connecting the Lake Minnewaska and Sam’s Point Visitors Centers. There are excellent views of the Catskills, weather permitting. This 27-mile ride includes 2100′ of elevation gain and is rated moderate-difficult. Although the surface of the roads is suitable for faster gravel or cyclocross bicycles, a mountain bike (or hybrid) is recommended for the gearing, relaxed position, and pacing that is appropriate with the setting. Expected average pace is 10-12 mph. We will begin and conclude at Lake Minnewaska, pausing for lunch, and returning via Castle Point Carriageway.
