Mill Brook Ridge Ramble

After carpooling to Alder Lake, we hike around the lake and then on to the Beaver Meadow Lean-to, followed by an ascent of Mill Brook Ridge, pausing at a wonderful view overlooking Beecher Lake before continuing on to Balsam Lake Mountain to enjoy another great vista from the fire tower. We then descend the north side of Balsam Lake Mountain, ending our hike at the Dry Brook Ridge Parking Area on Mill Brook Road.

Dogs allowed: Yes, only with permission of event leader
Additional Information: This hike is a long traverse that will require some participants to assist in shuttling drives back to Alder Lake at the end of the hike to retrieve car(s).
This is a great hike to enjoy the fall colors for a variety of locations along the way.

Driving Directions: Meet at Dry Brook Ridge Trailhead Parking Lot on Mill Brook Road. From Route 28 in Arkville, drive south on Dry Brook Road about 5 miles and turn right (west) on Mill Brook Road. Climb steeply up Mill Brook Road for about 2.5 miles and pull into the Dry Brook Ridge Parking Lot on the right (north) side of the road.
