This woodland hike offers a 2.2-mile loop around scenic Frick Pond that is suitable for beginners who are comfortable walking this distance. Winding through the hemlocks, with views across the pond, there may be sightings of mushrooms, great blue heron, and other woodland wonders.  The trail surface includes some rocky terrain and tree roots, and often has muddy sections. Waterproof shoes or boots are recommended.

Additional Information:  This is a welcoming beginner hike and the trip leader looks forward to talking to each participant beforehand to better plan the hike. She is a big fan of using hiking poles. If you would like to try them, let her know and she will bring a pair for you.

Covid-19 Guidelines:  Due to the rise in delta variant cases locally and nationally we have revived these simple protocols for participation in our in-person events. Wear a mask while congregated in the parking lot or at other sites.  Follow social distancing protocols.  Use your own pen when signing in, or use hand sanitizer. Driving Directions:  From Rt. 17, take Exit 96 in Livingston Manor. Turn onto the DeBruce Road (CR 81) and continue for 6 miles. Turn left onto Mongaup Road and continue 2.4 miles. You will pass the NYS DEC Fish Hatchery. At the fork, bear left onto Beech Mt Rd., a graded dirt road. Follow for 0.2 miles to the Frick Pond Trailhead sign and park. The trip leader will have her hatchback up, ready to greet you!
