Catskill Mountains Outdoor Art Tour – 2018

Enjoy a driving tour of Catskills outdoor art exhibits during leaf peeper season! Catskill Mountainkeeper has compiled a list of easy to get to sites that are open to viewing by the public. All are free with the exception of Opus 40, an exceptional work of environmental sculpture created over a 37 year period by Harvey Fite.
VENUE DESCRIPTIONS:
Pratt Rock Trail and Park (next to 14366 Route 23, Prattsville 12468): Carved cliff-side sculptures of Civil war characters and landscape panoramic views, like those painted by Hudson River School painters. Opus 40 (50 Fite Road, Saugerties 12477): Magnificent bluestone environmental walk-through sculpture. Thursday-Sunday, $10 Adults, $7 Seniors and Students, $3 School-aged children; under 6, free with adult. www.opus40.org
Byrdcliffe Walking Tour (380 Upper Byrdcliffe Road, Woodstock 12498): Historic buildings and grounds of the 100+ year-old Byrdcliffe Art Colony. Free, self-guided tours daily. Glenford Rocks (2462 Route 28, Glenford 12433): Outdoor art space displaying functional Art/furniture made from local bluestone; also sculptural shade systems. Open daily, free to the public. www.glenfordrocks.com

49A Art Park (Route 49A, Highmount 12441): A rotating, privately-curated invitational exhibition, visible at no charge from 49A’s road frontage, above the Belleayre Mountain Ski Center, in front of the historic landmark Galli-Curci mansion.
