Vernooy Kill Falls

This is an easy 1.8-mile round-trip hike to Vernooy Kill Falls from the Trails End Parking Lot. In addition to the falls, we will explore the remains of settlements in the area, the history of the Vernooy family, and the natural history of the area, including the plants and any animals we may see.

Bring: Snacks and drink; proper clothing, insect repellent. No open-toed shoes, sandals or flip-flops. Sneakers are okay.

PLEASE contact the leader and cancel if you are not able to come as others may want to take your place. This hike is limited to 12 participants, so please register early.

Additional Information: This walk in nature is in partnership with the YMCA of Ulster. Free van transportation is available from the YMCA of Ulster. The van will leave the Kingston YMCA at 9 and return by 1. In order to ride the van you must register with the YMCA: https://rb.gy/sr8bi5

Driving Directions: Take US Route 209 to Ulster County Highway 3 (Samsonville Road) and see the directional sign that reads “Vernooy Kill Falls 8” (this intersection is .6 mile north of the hamlet of Kerhonkson). Turn north onto CH 3/ Samsonville Rd. and proceed 7.5 miles to Sundown Road and turn left. Take Sundown Road which becomes Trails End Road all the way to the trailhead at the end of the road.
