We could have also called this free program ‘Topo Map Reading for Beginners!’
It will be held at Morgan Outdoors in Hurleyville, NY. Participants will learn the basic elements of a topographic map is and how useful they are when planning a hike. Come sit around the map table and we’ll teach you the basics. Past participants have remarked that this old-school skill is not only fun but super useful when our electronics fail. One lucky registrant will win a topographic map to take home!

If you’re interested, the O&W Rail Trail is right next door. You might enjoy coming a little early to enjoy a stroll beforehand. It passes through a beautiful wetland and is known for some great bird watching.

Driving Directions: Morgan Outdoors is located at: 234 Main Street, Hurleyville, NY 12747. Distance from Route 17, at Exit 100 is approx. 5.5 miles to the southeast. From Exit 100, take Route 52 east 2.7 miles and turn right on Hilldale Rd. (Sul. Co. Hwy 51). Take Hilldale for 2.1 miles and turn right on Francis Currey Blvd./ becomes Main St, Hurleyville. Go 1.3 miles. Morgan Outdoors is on the left.
