Enjoy this fall hike by joining the Catskill Mountain Club as we maintain the 5.5-mile forest road that traverses the Plattekill State Forest from Bovina to Roxbury.

Bring: Lunch/ snacks, water/ drink, sturdy hiking shoes, fall clothing layers, rain gear, gloves, loppers, small or collapsible saws, and eye protection.

Additional Information: This is a one-way trip requiring a shuttle. Information for coordinating will be distributed after registration closes and prior to the event.

Driving Directions:

We will meet at the Plattekill State Forest access point on Thompson Hollow Road in the town of Roxbury at 9am. This is where the hike will end. We’ll shuttle to the Bovina access point to begin the hike. (Note, some maps including Google label the upper section of Thompson Hollow Road as Harold Roberts Road.)

From NYS Route 28 westbound from Margaretville go 4.9 miles; turn right on County Hwy 6 and continue 5.25 miles to New Kingston. At the northern edge of the hamlet stay right onto Thompson Hollow Road. Continue for just over two miles and stay/ turn left at the intersection to continue on Thompson Hollow Road. From this intersection, go 1.9 miles, and the access point will be on the right and marked by a sign.

From Delhi take NYS Route 28 south approximately 7.5 miles to the left turn to Bovina onto County Highway 6. Stay on CH6 passing through Bovina Center and at mile 5.35 (from Route 28) stay to the right and continue up and over the mountain to New Kingston, which is reached at 10.2 miles from Route 28. Turn left upon arrival at New Kingston onto Thompson Hollow Road. Continue for just over two miles and stay/ turn left at the intersection to continue on Thompson Hollow Road. From this intersection, go 1.9 miles, and the access point will be on the right and marked by a sign.
