SUMMARY:Platte Clove History Hike
DESCRIPTION:A hike along the Nature Trail (1/2 mile loop) and The Waterfall trail (1/3 Mile one way) while discussing the history of Platte Clove\, the artists cabin\, and some general Catskills history. Topics talked about include How the clove formed from Glaciers\, The Hudson River School\, The Bicycle Tours that it hosts and has hosted\, The History of the Ruins that are there and a bit more ! \nEvent Duration: 1.5 miles\, 1.5 – 2 hours \nLevel of Difficulty:  Easy-Moderate \nLeader(s): Sammi Delaney \nBring: snacks\, water/ drink\, proper clothing\, sturdy boots \nRegistration required by 10/5 date.  Use registration form below to register. \nPLEASE contact the leader and cancel if you are not able to come as others may want to take your place. \nGroup size is limited to 12 so register early. \nFee:  No \nDogs allowed:   Yes\, leashed only \nQuestions about this event can be directed to:  sdelaney@catskillcenter.org \nCovid-19 Guidelines:   We ask participants to socially distance\,  to be vaccinated and to cancel if they or members of their household are or have been ill with covid-like symptoms within the past ten days.   Other guidelines may apply\, depending on event. The event leader will inform participants. \nDriving Directions: From Route 23A west\, take a right on Bloomer Road (.6 miles after the 23A/ 214 jnctn). Just after a mile stay to the right at the yield signs and onto Platte Clove Road (Co. Hwy. 16). Continue to the point that is 6.3 miles and you will see the Long Path parking area (meeting place) on your left. \nFrom the NYS Thruway Exit 20 (Saugerties) take State Route 212 west to Blue Mountain Road. Blue Mountain Road is 2 miles from the junction of Routes 212 and 32 and 2.3 miles from the junction of Route 212 and the northbound thruway exit. Turn right on Blue Mountain Road (Co. Hwy 35)\, go 1.4 miles\, and turn left onto West Saugerties Road (Co. Hwy 33.) Take this road (it will steepen at 2.6 miles) 4.2 miles to the Long Path/ Huckleberry Brook Trailhead/ Parking Area (on your right). \nGPS coordinates: 42.13381\, -74.08182 \nAfter you press “Submit” below the registration form\, you will see a screen that says “Your registration has been submitted”. If you do not\, an error has occurred. Please resubmit\, being sure to complete all fields.
