Hike to Woodchuck Lodge

Hike the trails at the John Burroughs Woodchuck Lodge in Roxbury. We will also walk to the nearby burial site of John Burroughs, maintained by NY Parks. Woodchuck Lodge, the summer home of John Burroughs, will be opened for a visit at conclusion of the hike. Paul Misko will be present and will share Burroughs stories.
Event Duration: 2 miles, 2 hours
Level of Difficulty: Easy-Moderate
Leader: John Wadlin
Bring: Lunch for after the hike; water/ drink, hiking shoes, rain gear, sunscreen, insect repellent.
Registration: This event is limited to 18 people and registration is required by October 7. Use registration form below to register.

Driving Directions: Woodchuck Lodge is located in the town of Roxbury. From Grand Gorge take Route 30 south for 5.8 miles to Hard Scrabble Road. Turn right and continue .85 of a mile and turn left onto Burroughs Memorial Road. Continue 1.2 miles and Woodchuck Lodge is on the right.
From Margaretville or Arkville, take Route 30 north (about 11 miles) through the hamlet of Roxbury and turn left onto Hard Scrabble Road. Continue .85 of a mile and turn left onto Burroughs Memorial Road. Continue 1.2 miles and Woodchuck Lodge is on the right.
