SUMMARY:Hike to Sugarloaf Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Sugarloaf Mountain is a wonderful hike to 3781 Feet elevation on the Devil’s Path. We will do the full 9.2 mile loop and enjoy the varied woods there. The top climb section is extremely challenging. Views from the top are so nice. The downhill is difficult but so unique. We will exit via Pecoy Notch and chill at quarry chairs at Dibbles Quarry\non our way down. This hike is for the experienced hiker wanting a day of fall fun in the Catskills \nEvent Duration: 9.2 miles\, 8.5 hours \nLevel of Difficulty: Difficult \nLeader: Deanna Felicetta \nBring: Lunch/ snacks\, water/ drink\, sunscreen\, insect repellent\, proper seasonal layers\, rain gear\, gloves\, hat\, sturdy hiking shoes\, headlamp or flashlight. \nRegistration required by October 1. Use registration form below to register. \nPLEASE contact the leader and cancel if you are not able to come as others may want to take your place. \nGroup size is limited to 10 people. \nDogs allowed:  No. \nAdditional Information: Poor weather or dangerous trails will cancel this hike due to difficult terrain. \nQuestions about this event can be directed to: felicetta.deanna@gmail.com or (845) 216-2021 \nDriving Directions: To reach the trailhead from State Route 23A in Tannersville\, take South Main\, stay left on Spruce (becomes Platte Clove Rd./ Co. Hwy 16) and at 1.5 miles stay left on Platte Clove Road and continue another 3.3 miles and turn right on Dale Lane. Continue 1.2 miles to the Roaring Kill Trailhead/ parking area. \nFrom Route 23A west\, take a right on Bloomer Road (.6 miles after the 23A/ 214 jnctn). Just after a mile stay to the right at the yield signs and onto Platte Clove Road (Co. Hwy. 16). Continue another 3.3 miles and turn right on Dale Lane. Continue 1.2 miles to the Roaring Kill Trailhead/ parking area. \nFrom Exit 20 (Saugerties) NYS Thruway\, take State Route 212 west and continue for 2.3 miles. Turn right onto Blue Mountain Road and continue for 1.4 miles. Slight left to continue onto West Saugerties Road and continue all the way up the steep hill. At the top\, continue for about two miles and turn left onto Dale Lane. Take Dale Lane 1.2 miles to the trailhead. \nGPS coordinates: 42.15113\, -7413112 \nAfter you press “Submit” below the registration form\, you will see a screen that says “Your registration has been submitted”.
