Join Wendell George for a hike on the Ashokan Quarry Trail in Olivebridge. The trail is an easy hike suitable for all members of the family, young and old. At about two miles, the trail wanders through a nice mix of features including spectacular views of the Catskill high peaks from open ledges sitting on top of the old quarry’s high wall. Other interesting sites include several ruins from the early 20th century days when the Yale Quarry was used as a source of rock for construction of the Ashokan Reservoir.

Bring: Snacks/ drink. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and dress in layers for changeable weather. Tick repellent and hiking poles are recommended.

Driving Directions: The trailhead parking area is located on SR 28A about 0.6 mile NW of the Ashokan Reservoir Promenade West on the south side of the reservoir. From SR 28 W, turn south/ right onto 28A at Boiceville and go 7.85 miles and the parking/ trailhead is on the right. From the junction of SR 28 and 28A from the east, take SR 28A 11.6 miles and the trailhead/ parking is on the left. From SR 28 at Shokan turn south on Reservoir Rd. and cross the reservoir. At 1.7 miles take SR 28A W for 2.4 miles and the trailhead/ parking is on the left.
