SUMMARY:Guided Hike and History of the Escarpment Trail and Trailhead Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Join the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference’s Catskill Summit Stewards on a moderate\, approximately 5-mile hike along the Escarpment Trail near North-South Lake. Along the way\, the stewards will educate participants on Leave No Trace principles\, map-reading and navigation skills\, and the rich history of this extraordinary area. After the hike\, participants can volunteer for a litter clean-up at the Scutt Road parking area. \nEvent Duration: 5 miles\, 4 hours \nLevel of Difficulty:  Moderate \nLeader(s): New York-New Jersey Trail Conference Catskill Summit Stewards \nBring:  Lunch/ food/snacks\, water/ drink\, sun protection\, proper clothing/ layers\, good hiking shoes. \nRegistration required by 9/30.  Use registration form below to register. \nPLEASE contact the leader and cancel if you are not able to come as others may want to take your place. \nGroup size is limited to 12 so register early. \nFee:  No \nDogs allowed: Yes\, leashed only \nQuestions about this event can be directed to:  mromano@nynjtc.org \nCovid-19 Guidelines:   We ask participants to socially distance\,  to be vaccinated and to cancel if they or members of their household are or have been ill with covid-like symptoms within the past ten days.   Other guidelines may apply\, depending on event. The event leader will inform participants. \nDriving Directions: To reach the Scutt Road Parking Area take State Route 23A (4.9 miles west of Palenville; 2 miles east of Tannersville traffic light) to North Lake Road (Co. Hwy. 18). Take this road 2.2 miles and see the small sign for the access point (just before the state campground entrance)\, turn right\, and the parking area is on the right. \nGPS coordinates: 42.20069\, -74.05858 \nAfter you press “Submit” below the registration form\, you will see a screen that says “Your registration has been submitted”. If you do not\, an error has occurred. Please resubmit\, being sure to complete all fields.
