Fall Birding Walk at Shawangunk Grasslands

Join the Catskill Center’s Finn Parnell for a guided stroll through the Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge, a haven for bird enthusiasts.
Discover a diverse array of birds while learning to use mobile apps for easy identification—don’t forget your binoculars! A limited number of binoculars will be available to borrow.
Event Duration: 1.5 miles, 2 hours

Bring: Binoculars, sunscreen, water, snack, layers, rain gear.

Driving Directions:
From Ellenville (junction of State Routes 209 and 52), take Route 52 11.3 miles east. Turn left on Bruynswick Road (Ulster County Hwy 7) and continue for two miles. Turn right onto Bruyn Road (Walkill Ave) and proceed 3 miles. Turn left onto Hoagerburgh and continue for 1.4 miles and the entrance to the Grasslands is on the right.
From Route 52 East, continue one mile past Pine Bush and turn right on Bruynswick Road (Ulster County Hwy 7) and continue for two miles. Turn right onto Bruyn Road (Walkill Ave) and proceed 3 miles. Turn left onto Hoagerburgh and continue for 1.4 miles and the entrance to the Grasslands is on the right.
From the village of New Paltz, take 299 west over the Walkill River and bear left onto Ulster County Hwy 7. Go 13.7 miles and turn left onto Bruyn Road (Walkill Ave) and proceed 3 miles. Turn left onto Hoagerburgh and continue for 1.4 miles and the entrance to the Grasslands is on the right.
