SUMMARY:Hike North Dome & Mount Sherrill
DESCRIPTION:This is a bushwhack and private trail hike to two Catskill high peaks\, North Dome\, elevation 3610′; and Sherrill\, elevation 3540′. There are steep climbs and great views. We’ll be hiking at a moderate pace (about 1-1/2 mph moving speed with short breaks). \nEvent Duration: 6.5 miles\, 6 hours \nLevel of Difficulty:  Moderate-Difficult \nLeader: Marv Freedman \nBring: Lunch and snacks\, water/sports drink (recommend 1 to 2 liters)\, sun/ insect protection\, water resistant boots\, gaiters (recommended)\, poles (recommended)\, headlamp (We should finish well before dark\, but need to be prepared in case we’re delayed).  We won’t stop long for lunch and will eat snacks during short breaks. \nRegistration required by 10/7.  Note\, this hike is limited to 12 people\, so please register early. SUMMARY:Mushroom I.D. Hike to Red Hill Fire Tower
DESCRIPTION:We will be hiking to Red Hill Fire Tower from the Denning Road Trail Head. This trail is a moderate elevation gain with one rock scramble near the top. On our way to the fire tower we will stop and try to I.D. mushrooms and other fauna along the trail. Plan to pack a lunch\, there are picnic tables at the top. Hikers will be able to climb the tower and enter the cabin as well. SUMMARY:Hike Headwaters Trails 2024
DESCRIPTION:We start at the Soccer Field Parking Lot\, across the street from the DEC Offices Region 3. We will walk the Headwaters Trail up to the top of Bald Mountain\, where we will have a 270 degree view of the Catskills. Part of the Trail is on some old ski trails\, so it is very steep with a very short bushwhack. After lunch we will walk down the other side of the mountain and around the bottom of the mountain. \nEvent Duration: 6 miles\, 3.75 hours \nLevel of Difficulty:  Moderate-Difficult \nLeader: Bob Moses \nBring: Lunch/ snacks\, 3 liters of water\, other drink as needed\, proper clothing\, rain gear\, sturdy hiking shoes\, and insect/ tick repellent/ protection. \nRegistration required by10/5.
