SUMMARY:Dry Brook Ridge & German Hollow Trail Maintenance Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join Laura Battelani\, CMC Board Member and volunteer for the NYNJ Trail conference as she maintains her adopted trails for the fall season. We will drive to the Hill Road Trailhead and climb approximately 1500′ gradually\, then begin trail inspection and clearing on Dry Brook Ridge. We’ll hike toward to Pakatakan Mountain\, passing a 700-year-old bog and arrive at a beautiful lookout of the Pepacton Reservoir. We’ll relax and have a midday lunch at the overlook with beautiful western views of the Catskills. The return will have the options to either retrace the same trail to Hill Road\, or continue North and descend via German Hollow Trail. \nEvent Duration: 6 miles\, 6 hours \nLevel of Difficulty: Moderate-Difficult \nLeader: Laura Battelani \nBring: Lunch/ snacks\, water/ beverage\, hat\, insect repellent\, rain gear\, and sturdy hiking boots/ shoes. Wear comfortable layers. If you would like to help trail clearing bring hand clippers\,or loppers\, a foldable saw\, gloves\, and eye protection. \nRegistration required by 10/3.  This event is limited to 12 people\, so please register early.  Use registration form below to register. \nPLEASE contact the leader and cancel if you are not able to come as others may want to take your place. \nDogs allowed:  Yes\, only with permission of event leader. \nAdditional Information:  For those choosing to hike German Hollow\, transportation will be provided back to their car.\n \nQuestions about this event can be directed to:  Laura Battelani at bodyworx@catskill.net \nDriving Directions: From I-87: Margaretville is 43 miles west of the NYS Thruway Exit at Kingston on State Route 28. Fair Street is at the western edge of the village after Bridge Street. Wayfinding signs for Pakatakan Mountain mark the left turn onto Fair Street and\, at the top of the hill\, turn right onto Southside Spur. In 1.6 mls\, turn left onto Huckleberry Brook Spur Rd. In 0.3 mls keep left to continue on Hill Rd to the trailhead parking lot on the right in about 1 mile. \nFrom the west\, Margaretville is 21.7 miles from Delhi on Route 28. Following the brown-and-white signs\, turn right toward BWS Rd No 10 and turn left onto Southside Spur. In 0.2 mls turn right onto Huckleberry Brook Spur Rd. In 0.3 mls keep left to continue on Hill Rd to the trailhead parking lot on the right in about 1 mile. \nGPS coordinates: 42.11652\, -74.64777 \nAfter you press “Submit” below the registration form\, you will see a screen that says “Your registration has been submitted”.
