DESCRIPTION:Hike the Pakatakan Mountain \nOctober 13 @ 10:00 am – 1:30 pm \nJoin John/Barbara Sandman /Jones on this hike up Pakatakan Mountain from the Southside Spur Road in Margaretville to a ledge overlooking the Pepacton Reservoir where we will have lunch. The hike is a total of 3.6 miles\, roundtrip. This is the beginning of the Dry Brook Ridge Trail. Most of the hike is on a logging road with many switchbacks and a gentle incline. This hike is easy to get to\, fairly easy to do and it goes through beautiful woodland. \nEvent Duration: 3.6 miles\, 3.5 hours \nLevel of Difficulty:  Moderate \nBring: snacks or lunch\, water/ drink\, proper clothing including rainwear\, insect repellent\, sturdy shoes \nRegistration required by 10/10.  Use registration form below to register. \nGroup size is limited to 12 so register early. Fair Street is at the western edge of the village after Bridge Street. Wayfinding signs for Pakatakan Mountain mark the left turn onto Fair Street and\, at the top of the hill\, the left turn onto Southside Spur. The trailhead is a short distance (after a few houses) on the right. From the west\, Margaretville is 23.5 miles from Delhi on Route 28. Fair Street is the first junction in Margaretville and wayfinding signs for Pakatakan Mountain mark the right turn onto Fair Street and\, at the top of the hill\, the left turn onto Southside Spur. The trailhead is a short distance (after a few houses) on the right. SUMMARY:Huckleberry Point/Devil's Kitchen/Bridal Veil Falls
DESCRIPTION:Huckleberry Point is a moderate 4.5 mile out and back hike that starts within Platte Clove. The point features breathtaking views of Plattekill Mountain & the Hudson Valley\, along with multiple scenic biome changes rising up to the lookout. We’ll stop multiple times along the way to admire the water features\, shifts in flora\, and any interesting animals we come across. Blue Mountain Road is 2 miles from the junction of Routes 212 and 32 and 2.3 miles from the junction of Route 212 and the northbound thruway exit. Turn right on Blue Mountain Road (Co. Hwy 35)\, go 1.4 miles\, and turn left onto West Saugerties Road (Co. Hwy 33.) Take this road (it will steepen at 2.6 miles) 4.2 miles to the Long Path/ Huckleberry Brook Trailhead/ Parking Area (on your right). \nTo reach the trailhead from State Route 23A in Tannersville\, take South Main\, stay left on Spruce (becomes Platte Clove Rd.) and at 1.5 miles stay left on Platte Clove Road and continue another 5.2 miles and the trailhead/ parking area is on the left. SUMMARY:Ashokan Quarry Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join us on a short but pithy hike through the old quarry\, which was used in the building of the Ashokan Reservoir. This is a loop hike on a mostly easy path\, but involves a short hill climb and occasional rocky footing. Aside from a view\, we will see the remains of the quarry work\, of glacial activity\, and traces of fossils. A lot to see in a short hike. Cross the reservoir\, proceed downhill and stay straight on Route 28A west\, going past Route 213 and the Promenade parking area.
