High Point Mountain Hike

Join New York State DEC and New York City DEP for a group hike to the summit of High Point Mountain in Ulster County. Hikers will learn about the principles of Leave No Trace, the Catskill Park and Forest Preserve, and the 100th anniversary of Ashokan Reservoir providing drinking water to New York City. This relatively strenuous hike will comprise a 8-mile round trip. High Point Mountain includes a ridge-top blueberry heath and impressive views of the Catskills, Shawangunk Mountains and Ashokan Reservoir. The hike will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 30. Parking is located at the Kanape Brook trailhead on County Route 42

Event Duration: 4-6 hours

Level of Difficulty:  strenuous

Bring:drinks, lunch, sunscreen
